Women in Business in Hong Kong

As would be expected in a region which has been so heavily influenced by Western attitudes, women play a much more important role in business life in Hong Kong than in a country such as Taiwan – and this is especially true amongst the larger multi-nationals.

More traditional Confucian attitudes to women in the workplace can be found in the small to medium sectors but female family members can, again, have positions of significant power and influence.

Visiting female businesspeople are unlikely to encounter too many difficulties working in Hong Kong, although they may still find that the views of male colleagues are listened to with somewhat more attention.
