Taiwan is a heavily male-dominated society and women (other than possibly family members) play little part in business life. Women tend to occupy the lowest level positions in an organisation - even though they may be very highly qualified. As in many other countries, advances are being made, but progress is slow and it may be many years before any sense of equality is reached.
