As the concept of 'pakikisama' is so strongly programmed into the Filipino psyche, team working is a natural state of affairs. People will go out of their way to help other team-members and to be seen to be helping. Anybody who acts in a way to injure the group or anybody within the group is likely to be severely dealt with.

That is why it is extremely important to be aware of the sense of 'face' of every member of a group because an insult to one could be construed as an insult to all.

Teams expect to be clearly led by the manager and the manager is expected to act as the champion of the group in all situations.
